Five reasons Davos should be your next MICE destination

With M&I Private Davos, 28 Sept – 1 Oct, drawing near, we’ve collaborated with our Headline Partners, Davos Congress and AlpenGold Hotel Davos, to tell you everything you need to know about this iconic destination.

With more than 3 million overnight stays per year, Davos is a major player in the Swiss tourism industry.  With a permanent population of around 10,000 residents, Davos boasts an urbane infrastructure with a wide range of restaurants and hotels – all surrounded by pristine mountain scenery.

But why should Davos be your next MICE destination?

A proud host culture

With over 50 years of experience in hosting conferences, Davos is home to the world-renowned World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, which attracts global attention every year.  Sports enthusiasts are equally catered for: Davos is home to the Hockey Club Davos and the legendary Spengler Cup – the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world.

Davos may be small, but it is exceptionally well-equipped for year-round tourism. Whether in summer or winter, the region boasts breath-taking natural landscapes, fresh alpine air, tranquillity, and warm hospitality.

A unique setting with a ‘wow’ factor

With over 320 kilometres of ski slopes, Davos remains a popular destination year-round, but alongside this, it also offers a unique guest programme with more than 60 experiences and activities such as wakeboarding, botanical tours on the Schatzalp, llama trekking or a visit to the farmers on the alp. In addition, the destination’s own DMC ‘Davos Services’ advises on incentive and event possibilities and organises a tailor-made supporting programme.

Davos is the perfect balance of accessibility and escape – internationally accessible via Zurich Airport, with a scenic onward journey by train through stunning landscapes. Once there, getting around is easy—on foot, by bus, or by taxi—all with spectacular mountain views and a peaceful alpine atmosphere.

Outstanding MICE infrastructure

Davos combines world-class infrastructure with the unique charm of an Alpine city, making it the perfect destination for MICE events of any size. It is home to one of the most modern congress centres in the Alps, which offers 12,000 m² of flexible meeting space and can accommodate up to 5,000 participants.

With more than 6,000 guest beds ranging from cosy lodges to luxury 5-star hotels and serviced apartments, Davos ensures comfortable accommodation for every budget and group size. The city also features over 75 restaurants, offering exceptional culinary experiences – whether it’s a casual team lunch, a taste of local specialities, or an elegant gala dinner.

Our headline partner, AlpenGold Hotel Davos exemplifies a holistic hotel, offering 216 rooms and suites, 1,500 m² of event space, an in-house spa, and six restaurants and bars all under one roof.

Sustainability at the core

As a country, Switzerland takes sustainability seriously – around two thirds of their energy is generated from renewable sources. Davos is equally committed to climate action. Our Headline Partner, Davos Congress have the first climate-neutral congress centre in Switzerland, certified by myclimate. MICE organisers can accurately calculate and reduce their carbon footprint. By 2030, Davos aims to become Switzerland’s first fully climate-neutral holiday destination.

Davos: A hub of science, tradition, and global appeal

Beyond tourism, Davos is an internationally renowned centre for scientific research with a long-standing tradition—particularly in the fields of medicine, environment, and climate. Prestigious institutions such as the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF), the AO Research Institute for musculoskeletal medicine, the Climate Change, Extremes and Natural Hazards in Alpine Regions Research Centre (CERC), and the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) contribute to its scientific excellence. Thanks to close cooperation between research, application, and global exchange, Davos is a key location for innovation and knowledge transfer—at an altitude of over 1,500 meters and in close collaboration with the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich.
